Gee Web Design ("we", "us", "our") operates the website geewebdesign.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we look after it, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

Gee Web Design is the data controller for personal data collected through this Site.

2. What data we collect

We collect personal data in two ways:

a) Contact form

When you submit our contact form, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Any other information you choose to include in your message (e.g. phone number, project details)

b) Analytics (Google Analytics)

When you browse the Site, we automatically collect data about your visit via Google Analytics, including:

  • IP address (anonymised/truncated where possible)
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited, time spent on the Site, and referring website
  • General geographic location (city/country level)

This data is collected via cookies. See Section 6 for more on cookies.

4. How we use your data

We use the information you submit through the contact form solely to respond to your enquiry, discuss your project, and, if you choose to proceed, provide our services. We do not use contact form data for marketing unless you separately opt in.

Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand traffic patterns and improve the Site's content and performance. We do not use analytics data to identify you personally.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal data.

We share data with the following third-party processors, who process it on our behalf:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) — website analytics. Google may process data outside the UK/EEA; Google's standard contractual clauses and its own privacy policy govern this, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Email provider — used to receive and store messages sent via the contact form.

We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect our legal rights.

6. Cookies

The Site uses cookies for analytics purposes. On your first visit, you'll be asked to consent to non-essential cookies (such as Google Analytics) via a cookie banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clearing your browser's cookies or adjusting your cookie preferences.

Essential cookies (if any, e.g. for basic Site functionality) do not require consent but are limited to what's strictly necessary to operate the Site.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Contact form enquiries: retained for up to 24 months from your last contact, or longer if we go on to provide services to you (in which case normal business/accounting record-keeping periods apply).
  • Analytics data: retained according to Google Analytics' default retention settings, currently up to 14 months, unless configured otherwise.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Have inaccurate data corrected
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time (for consent-based processing, such as analytics cookies)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.

10. Children

This Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
