UK electrician website price ranges
There is no single answer, because an electrician website is not one product. A sole trader who wants a credible place to send referrals needs something very different from a five-van electrical contractor competing for commercial maintenance contracts across three counties. These are the bands most UK electricians fall into.
Treat them as build costs. Domain, hosting and any optional support are covered separately further down.
£250 – £400 · Starter
Around five pages: home, about, services overview, areas covered, contact. Mobile-first, fast, with correct titles and schema. Right for a sole trader who mainly needs credibility for referrals and a Google Business Profile destination.
£400 – £700 · Standard
Ten to fifteen pages with an individual page per electrical service, several genuine location pages, a gallery of your own work, reviews and a proper enquiry form. This is where most electricians should sit, because it is the point at which the site can actually rank.
£700 – £1,500 · Contractor
Twenty-plus pages covering domestic and commercial divisions, many location pages, EV charger and EICR landing pages, case studies, tracked forms and content written for you. Suits multi-van firms competing in a competitive city.
£1,500+ · Bespoke
Booking systems, customer portals, integrations with job management software, multi-branch structures or custom quote calculators. Genuinely useful for larger electrical contractors, unnecessary for most.

Factor one: how many pages you need
Page count is the single largest driver of cost, because every page is written, structured, internally linked and optimised individually. It is also the largest driver of results, which is why cutting pages to cut cost is usually a false saving.
Each electrical service you want work from needs its own page. Someone searching for a consumer unit upgrade and someone searching for an EV charger installation are different buyers with different questions, and a combined page answers neither convincingly. The same is true of towns: one areas-covered list will not rank for individual towns the way genuine local pages will.
The recommended structure is set out in full in our guide to the important pages for electrician websites.
- Core pages — home, about, contact, areas covered, reviews
- One page per service — rewiring, consumer units, EICR, EV chargers, fault finding, lighting, commercial
- One page per town you seriously want work in
- An emergency electrician page if you genuinely take out-of-hours calls
- Supporting content — costs, guides, FAQs
Factor two: the SEO work built into the build
Two websites can look identical and perform completely differently. The difference is the groundwork underneath: whether each page targets a specific search, whether the headings and titles are written for humans and crawlers, whether schema markup describes the business, and whether the images have been compressed to load on mobile data.
Some builders charge this as a separate ongoing SEO package. We include it in the build, because retro-fitting structure to a finished website costs more than doing it once at the start.
If you want to understand what that groundwork involves before you buy, read our guide to SEO services for electricians.
- Keyword-led page titles and meta descriptions for every page
- A single clear H1 per page and a sensible heading hierarchy
- LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ schema markup
- Internal linking from the homepage down to every service and location page
- Compressed images and fast mobile performance
- Search Console setup and sitemap submission

Factor three: functionality and features
Most electricians need less functionality than they expect. An enquiry form that reliably reaches your inbox, a click-to-call button and a gallery will out-earn an elaborate booking system almost every time. But some features genuinely pay for themselves, and each adds to the build cost.
- Quote forms with photo upload — often removes a wasted survey visit
- Click-to-call and WhatsApp buttons
- Live Google review feeds
- Before-and-after galleries for rewires and consumer units
- Emergency call-out banner with genuine hours
- Online booking or diary integration
- Customer portals or certificate downloads for commercial clients
- Multi-location or multi-branch structures
What it costs to run each year
The build is one number, the running cost is another, and being surprised by the second is what sours most electricians on their website. Here is a realistic annual picture for a typical electrical business.
None of these figures are large, but they are unavoidable — a website with expired hosting or a lapsed domain disappears entirely, taking your rankings with it.
- Domain name: £10 – £15 per year
- Hosting: £3 – £20 per month depending on the platform
- SSL certificate: usually included free
- Care plan (updates, backups, security, small edits): £15 – £50 per month, optional
- Content changes you make yourself through the editor: free
- Optional ongoing SEO or content support: £150 – £400 per month in competitive areas

Why cheap electrician websites lose enquiries
A cheap website is not automatically a bad one — our own builds start at £250. The problem is a specific kind of cheap: a single templated page, rented rather than owned, with no service pages, no location targeting, uncompressed images and a contact form nobody has tested.
The cost of that never appears on an invoice. It appears as enquiries that go to the electrician ranking above you, and you never know they existed.
Run the arithmetic for your own business. If a typical job is worth £300 and a properly structured site produces three extra enquiries a month, the difference between a £99 template and a £495 build pays for itself inside the first fortnight. That is why we treat structure as the non-negotiable part and design polish as the flexible part.
Most of these problems are recognisable at a glance — we list them in common electrician website mistakes.
- One page trying to cover every electrical service, ranking for none
- No town or county in any page title, so local searches never surface you
- Phone number buried below the fold, in an image, or not tappable
- Five-second load times from uncompressed photographs
- Rented platforms where you cannot export or move the site
- Contact forms that silently fail and lose enquiries
- Stock imagery instead of your own completed electrical work
- No qualifications, scheme registration or insurance shown anywhere
How to judge whether a quote is fair
Price alone tells you very little. These are the questions worth asking any web designer quoting for an electrical business, and the answers separate a fair £495 from an unfair one.

- How many pages, and is there a page per service and per town?
- Is SEO structure included or sold separately later?
- Can I edit text, prices and photos myself?
- What are the total costs over three years, not just today?
- Can I see other trade websites you have built?
- What happens if I want to move to another provider?
